“Purposeless to Purposeful”

My husband and I were sitting on our back porch looking at our beautiful sunset that God blessed us with , when we started talking about how our life had turned from being ” Purposeless” to “Purposeful”.  I mean we went to church, was involved in Ministry. We thought we were living a “Purposeful” Life.  Were we ever wrong. We realized we had been secluding ourselves from the rest of the world, not getting involved, except when necessary!  This was not shining God’s light and glory!  We give God praises daily for opening our eyes.

Let me explain 🙂   When my husband and I moved into our first home it was way……..out in the woods. I mean there was a lot of times you could not get down to our house on our driveway unless you had a truck. Honestly!  Imagine what kind of affect that had on not being able to have people over!  You guess it!  It did not happen.  Cars would drag, small trucks would drag.  Soooo….my husband and I through the years along with our three children settled into a routine of working, and going to our parents home and to church.

Thankfully the school bus was able to get up our driveway to our home.  If not, we would have had to meet the bus or take our kids to school.  We became so much into our routine we did not realize that we were living a “Purposeless” life.  WOW!!!

As the years passed, through hardships and trials……..Our Amazing God opened our Eyes……..we moved from our home in the woods to a home on five acres….wide open…..in a small country subdivision.  We started getting involved with the community more, we were able to invite others over and they could actually come down our driveway in a car, small truck or any vehicle and not drag.  “How awesome is that”.

” God opened our eyes and guided my family and I where we could start living a “Purposeful” Life, shining His light, His glory unto others instead of a “Purposeless” life.

Am I saying you need to move?  ABSOULTELY NOT!!  God can open your eyes no matter where you are!  Our path was how God opened our eyes.

What path is God taking you on?

  1. Thank you for sharing. It reminded me of the time in my life when God finally removed my blinders. I too thought I was living a purposeful life, when in reality, I didn’t have a clue!

  2. What a great way to depict how purposeless we can lead our lives. Sometimes we need to see our stumbling blocks that prevent us from living rewarding lives…in the spiritual realm as well. Thanks for sharing!
