I will never forget the first two road trips we, my two brothers, two sisters, my mom and me did with my step-dad. My step-dad came in the house and told my mom to get all of us together we were going on a road trip. My mom got us all together and told us to get in the van. Now one of my brothers was only eight months old, so my mom took a couple of diapers and a bottle.
My step-dad headed toward the mountains (we lived in North Georgia) and we were all excited. My step-dad and a friend of his used to go what he called diamond hunting on the red clay banks, so that’s where our step-dad’s first road trip went to. We got to the red clay banks up in the mountains and our step-dad started showing us how to dig for diamonds. (Just to let you know it wasn’t real diamonds that my step-dad was talking about). It was rocks that looked like diamonds and we thought it was the coolest. My brothers and sisters and I would dig for hours with our step-dad and we found a lot of diamond rocks. My mom would keep an eye on us and watch my baby brother. We finally left, but my mom had to get my step-dad to stop and get more milk and diapers because of us being gone so long and she had not been prepared.
Isn’t it “AMAZING” how our wonderful God teaches us to be ready, drop what your doing when he says come. Are you ready? In Matthew 24: 44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.
Our Second Road Trip:
I remember it like it was yesterday, my step-dad came into the house and told my mom to get all of us together, we were going for another rode trip, but this time he told my mom to be sure to pack a lunch, snacks and plenty of diapers and bottles. My parents were prepared. So off we went wondering where was he going to take us this time. My step-dad finally told us we were going to go across old route two. This was only a dirt trail across mountains, it was very popular route that was traveled back then, we were excited.
We seen it! It was not far up ahead, and my step-dad turned onto the dirt trail that lead to route two. We started out slow and it was pretty easy going, then it started getting steep and slippery, for it had rained the day before. On the next slope going up, my step-dad ask my brother and I if we wanted to climb up the bank to the road at the top and he and my mom would meet us there and we both said “ yes” and off we went. My step-dad and mom were waiting on us when my brother and I got there. It was so cool. We got back in the back of the truck and we started back on the trail where we seen a creek was crossing the road. We ask our step-dad how were we going to get across and he said” we were going to drive right through it”, which we did. Then we came to a waterfall and we got to climb up the side of it. That’s where we had our lunch and it was so awesome. Sadly, it was time to go, so we all got back in the truck and headed home.
WOW!! God was showing us that no matter how steep or slippery our road trip was, no matter what obstacles we came across, with Him, Nothing is impossible. THIS IS AWESOME!!
Matthew17:20 ” He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there, ‘and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
